Like any surgery, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) carries some risks and potential complications. Common risks include infection, bleeding, and an adverse reaction to anesthesia. Some patients may experience dry eyes, irritation, or difficulty closing their eyes fully after the procedure. Other possible complications include scarring, changes in skin sensation, or in rare cases, temporary or permanent vision changes. There’s also a small risk of asymmetry between the eyes or dissatisfaction with the cosmetic results.

Blepharoplasty can be done on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, depending on the patient’s needs. For the upper eyelids, the surgeon makes an incision along the natural fold of the lid to remove excess skin, muscle, and fat. For the lower eyelids, the incision is typically made just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid. Through these incisions, the surgeon can remove or reposition fat to reduce puffiness and smooth out the under-eye area. The incisions are then closed with fine sutures, and the scars are usually well-concealed within the natural creases of the eyelids. The procedure typically takes one to two hours, depending on the complexity, and recovery time is relatively short.

Hi Jhon! Yes, blepharoplasty can be performed on men as well. In fact, many men seek this procedure to address signs of aging or fatigue around the eyes, such as drooping eyelids or puffiness. The approach to blepharoplasty in men is similar to that for women, but the surgical techniques might be adjusted to suit male anatomical features and aesthetic preferences. For men, the goal is often to achieve a natural, refreshed look while maintaining a masculine appearance. As with any cosmetic surgery, it’s important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience with male patients to discuss your specific goals and ensure the procedure is tailored to your needs.
