Breast Procedure

Pre Operative Question Answer

Are saline implant deflations more common with older implants?

I want to assure you that while saline implant deflations can occur, they are not necessarily more common with older implants. The risk of implant deflation is present regardless of the age of the implant. However, it’s important to note that the lifespan of breast implants typically ranges from 10 to 20 years, and as the implants age, the risk of deflation may slightly increase. To minimize the chances of deflation, it is essential to choose high-quality implants and undergo routine check-ups to monitor their condition. If a deflation does occur, the saline is harmlessly absorbed by the body, and the implant can be easily replaced.
